Waterstones Plus

Offers checked 12 Oct 2026 · How we verify offers

Waterstones Plus is Waterstones’ free loyalty scheme, and it pays stamps, not points. You collect 1 Plus Stamp for every £10 you spend in Waterstones shops and cafés, on waterstones.com and in the Waterstones app, and half a stamp when you spend £5 to £9.99.

Every 10 stamps add £10 to your Plus balance overnight, which you can spend in any amount. So a stamp is worth £1, and the usual rate gives 10p back for every £1 you spend, paid out £10 at a time: stamps short of a set of 10 can’t be spent yet.

Waterstones also runs double-stamp events, and over Black Friday in each year from 2022 to 2025 it paid triple stamps on purchases of £100 or more. Students can join Plus Student instead, which adds an instant 5% discount to the same stamps.

Double stamps at Waterstones

Waterstones runs double-stamp events, each with its own terms on one help page, “Waterstones Plus Offer”, which it rewrites for every event. The terms we have read applied each event to every validated Plus and Plus Student member, worked out the stamps on what you paid after discounts, and left out postage.

Over Black Friday, Waterstones paid double stamps online and in shops, and triple stamps on purchases of £100 or more, in each year from 2022 to 2025. Waterstones’ offer page showed no Black Friday terms for 2026 when we checked. We list an event here once its terms are on Waterstones’ site.

The October and Black Friday terms of 2025 included pre-orders and out-of-stock items, with stamps added when the order is dispatched. The Plus FAQ adds that some stamp offers are online only and don’t apply to Click & Collect orders.

How to collect Plus Stamps faster

  1. Save big orders for double-stamp days

On a double-stamp day, £50 earns 10 stamps (£10 to spend) instead of 5. In the Black Friday terms of 2022 to 2025, a purchase of £100 or more earned triple stamps: 30 stamps, or £30 to spend, on £100.

  2. Link your card before you order online

To earn stamps on waterstones.com, your Plus card number must be linked to your Waterstones account at the time you buy. Stamps arrive within 72 hours of dispatch; an order sent in several parcels earns its stamps parcel by parcel.

  3. Add a forgotten receipt

Forgot your card in a shop? Take the receipt and your card to a Waterstones shop, or contact Waterstones Customer Support with the number under the receipt’s barcode and your 16-digit card number. The FAQ gives you 30 days and the terms 31, so add it within 30. Purchases made before you joined don’t count.

  4. A single book of £5 to £9.99 still earns

Spend £5 to £9.99 on eligible items and you earn half a stamp, which the terms call the Single Book Bonus. Above £10 the rate is 1 stamp for every £10; the pages we read don’t say how amounts between whole £10s are counted.

  5. Keep your Plus balance for another shop

Stamps are earned only on the part of a purchase you don’t pay with Plus balance. Pay for a big order with money and you get its full stamps; spending balance on it lowers them.

How to spend your Plus balance

Activate your card first: Waterstones emails a link when you register, and until you use it you can’t spend your Plus balance. Then, at the till or at checkout on waterstones.com or in the app, say how much balance you want to use. There is no minimum, so you can spend as little or as much as you like, as part or full payment, in shops, cafés and online. No change is given if the balance is more than the purchase.

Plus balance can’t be spent, and stamps aren’t earned, on gift vouchers, electronic gift cards, eGifts, book tokens, theatre tokens, event tickets, postage stamps, trading cards, carrier bags or postage, nor in Waterstones concessions. It can’t be spent on waterstones.com orders delivered outside the UK, though those orders still earn stamps. Stamps have no cash value and can’t be sold or transferred.

If you return something, Waterstones takes back the stamps it earned, and in a shop you need to show your Plus card so the stamps or balance can be adjusted.

Waterstones Plus FAQ

Are there any Waterstones Plus stamp offers right now?

Yes, there is currently 1 live Waterstones Plus offer on this page, each checked on the brand's own site.

How much are Waterstones stamps worth?

£1 each, once you have 10. Waterstones adds £10 to your Plus balance overnight for every 10 stamps you collect. Stamps short of a set of 10 can’t be spent: you need 10 to add new credit. At 1 stamp per £10, that is 10p back for every £1 you spend.

How do Waterstones Plus stamps work?

You earn 1 Plus Stamp for every £10 you spend on eligible items in Waterstones shops and cafés, online and in the app, and half a stamp when you spend £5 to £9.99. Show your card or the app’s barcode at the till; online, your card must be linked to your Waterstones account when you order. Every 10 stamps become £10 of Plus balance overnight.

What is a half stamp at Waterstones?

Spend between £5 and £9.99 on eligible items and you earn half a stamp, which the terms call the Single Book Bonus. From £10 the rate is 1 stamp for every £10.

When are Waterstones double stamps in 2026?

The one event so far was Bookshop Day, Saturday 10 October 2026: double stamps in Waterstones bookshops, not online or in the app. When we checked on 16 October 2026, Waterstones’ offer page showed no newer event and no Black Friday terms for 2026. We list each event on this page once Waterstones publishes its terms.

Does Waterstones do triple stamps on Black Friday?

It did in each year from 2022 to 2025: double stamps online and in shops, and triple stamps on purchases of £100 or more, from the Friday to the Monday (in 2022 as a weekend offer and a separate Cyber Monday one). Waterstones’ offer page showed no Black Friday terms for 2026 when we checked.

Do Waterstones Plus stamps and balance expire?

Not on a fixed date. Waterstones closes a Plus account, with its stamps and balance, after 12 months in which you don’t collect stamps, spend balance, or check your balance on waterstones.com or in a shop. The Plus FAQ also counts checking your balance in the Waterstones app, which the terms don’t list. Any purchase with your card, or a balance check at the till, keeps it open.

Can I add Waterstones stamps from a receipt?

Yes. The Plus FAQ gives you 30 days: take the receipt and your card to a Waterstones shop, or contact Customer Support with the number under the receipt’s barcode and your 16-digit Plus card number. The terms say 31 days, so add it within 30 to be safe. Purchases made before you joined don’t count.

Do you earn Waterstones stamps online?

Yes, on waterstones.com and in the Waterstones app, as long as your Plus card number is linked to your account when you order. Stamps arrive within 72 hours of dispatch, parcel by parcel, and none are earned on postage. Click & Collect orders earn stamps when you pay on collection, but some stamp offers are online only and don’t apply to them.

Why have my Waterstones stamps disappeared?

Waterstones takes back the stamps earned on a purchase that is cancelled or returned, and closes an account, with its stamps and balance, after 12 months unused. Your stamps are also counted in cards of 10: when a card fills, it becomes £10 of Plus balance overnight and the count starts again.

Do pre-orders earn double stamps at Waterstones?

In the October and Black Friday events of 2025, yes: their terms said the offer applied to all orders, including pre-orders and out-of-stock items, with stamps added when the order is dispatched. Each event has its own terms, so check the current one.

Is Waterstones Plus free?

Yes. The terms say the scheme is provided free of charge, and you must be 16 or over. Join on waterstones.com, in the Waterstones app or in any Waterstones shop.

What is Waterstones Plus Student?

Plus Student is for students aged 16 or over in higher or further education or on a recognised apprenticeship. It earns the same stamps, plus an instant 5% discount, and stamps are counted after the 5% comes off. A Plus Student card lasts 3 years, then becomes a standard digital Plus card with your stamps and balance moved over.

Is there a Waterstones Plus app?

Yes. The Waterstones app holds a digital Plus card with a barcode to scan at the till, and shows your stamps and balance, so you don’t need a plastic card. You can still pick one up in a shop and link it to the same account. The pages we read mention no Apple Wallet or Google Wallet card.
