Best Western Rewards: points, free nights and what they’re worth

Offers checked 31 Oct 2026 · How we verify offers

Open to UK members. Best Western has more than 200 hotels in Great Britain, any adult in the UK can join free on its UK website, and a stay paid in pounds earns points too: Best Western converts it into US dollars, which is why we quote its rates in US$.

Best Western Rewards is the free loyalty scheme of Best Western Hotels & Resorts, run by Best Western International. You collect points on stays at more than 4,000 Best Western branded hotels worldwide, including its hotels in the UK, and spend them on free nights, money off a room, Best Western Travel Cards, vouchers and airline miles. It was called Gold Crown Club until 2009. Best Western doesn’t issue physical cards: your membership number comes by email.

Points are earned per US dollar, on Best Western’s UK site too: 10 points for every US$1 you spend on your room rate, when you book through Best Western’s website, its call centre, the hotel itself or a travel management company. Restaurant meals and other spending at the hotel earn no points. A stay paid in pounds is converted to US dollars first, at a rate Best Western sets at least once a year from published exchange rates, so we give the figures in US dollars, as Best Western does.

With Pay with Points, 5,000 points take US$25 off a room, so a point is worth 0.5 US cents and the standard rate returns 5 US cents for every US$1 (5%). Best Western Rewards points never expire.

How to collect Best Western Rewards points faster

  1. Book direct, not through a travel site

Bookings through online travel agents such as Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com and lastminute.com earn no points, and nor do special discounted rates such as wholesale, crew and free-night rates. The one exception on Best Western’s UK site: if you join at the hotel during your first Best Western stay booked that way, you get 500 points. Book on Best Western’s website or app, by phone, with the hotel or through a travel management company, and give your member number. You can earn on up to 3 rooms a night.

  2. Register for each promotion before you stay

Best Western’s promotions need a sign-up first, and stays before you register don’t count. Global Double Points, for stays from 8 September to 31 December 2026 at any Best Western branded hotel or participating WorldHotels hotel worldwide, pays a bonus equal to your base points on every qualifying stay, with no limit. Register in your account under Latest Promotions, at a hotel’s front desk or by phone; new members are registered when they join. Your earning preference must be set to points, and the bonus arrives about two weeks after the stay.

  3. Reach a tier

Elite members earn 10% to 50% bonus points on every qualifying night, from Gold at 5 nights in a calendar year (every tier is in the table above). A room rate of US$150 earns 1,500 points (US$7.50 with Pay with Points) at Blue and 2,250 points (US$11.25, a 7.5% return) at Diamond Select.

  4. Ask for a status match

If you hold elite status with another hotel loyalty scheme, Best Western offers to match it for free (its "Status Match… No Catch").

  5. Collect on car hire, at home or abroad

Best Western’s worldwide site gives 3 points per US$1 on the time and mileage of Alamo, Enterprise and National rentals at participating locations, and 1,000 points for every qualifying Sixt rental (its Central European site says up to 2,000). The Central European site lists 1,000 points for each Avis or Budget rental, and the worldwide site says points can be earned at every airport Avis or Budget branch. Give your Best Western Rewards number when you book; Sixt also takes it saved in your Sixt profile. Best Western’s UK site names no car hire partners, so check the rate when you book.

  6. Claim missing points within six months

Points are added within 7 days of your stay. Stays more than 6 months old can’t be claimed, so check your account after each one. New members get points for qualifying stays in the 30 days before they joined.

How to spend Best Western Rewards points

Best Western’s UK site says free nights start from 5,000 points, applied to the room rate in steps of 1,000 points; what each reward costs is shown only once you log in. Its worldwide terms price free nights in a standard room from the hotel’s expected average room rate for the date, up to seven nights in a row, booked while signed in or by phone, never through a travel agent. A free night covers the room and its taxes, not parking or resort fees.

Pay with Points takes US$25 off a room for 5,000 points, then US$5 for each further 1,000 points, on the first night of a stay only. Best Western offers it at every hotel in the US and Canada and at selected hotels elsewhere, and you still earn points on the part you pay in cash.

Points also buy Best Western Travel Cards (which never expire and pay for stays at Best Western hotels), shopping vouchers, meal vouchers and airline miles with partner airlines. Points cannot be exchanged for cash, and you can top up a balance by buying points through Best Western’s call centre.

Best Western’s UK site says points can be moved only between accounts at the same address. Its worldwide terms allow transfers to another member in steps of 1,000, up to 70,000 at a time and 150,000 in any 12 months, once your account has been open for 30 days.

Best Western Rewards FAQ

Are there any Best Western Rewards bonus points offers right now?

Yes, there are currently 7 live Best Western Rewards offers on this page, each checked on the brand's own site.

What are Best Western points worth in the UK?

Best Western values its points in US dollars, on its UK site too: with Pay with Points, 5,000 points take US$25 off a room, so a point is worth 0.5 US cents, and each further 1,000 points takes off US$5. The UK site shows what each reward costs only once you log in, so there is no public pound price, and we give the figure as Best Western does rather than convert it.

How many Best Western points do you get per dollar?

10 points for every US$1 you spend on your room rate, before taxes and fees, at most Best Western hotels, and 5 per US$1 at SureStay Studio, Executive Residency and @HOME hotels. Elite members get 10% to 50% more. Restaurant meals and other spending at the hotel earn nothing. A stay paid in pounds is converted to US dollars first, at a rate Best Western sets at least once a year.

How many Best Western points do you need for a free night?

Best Western’s UK site says free nights start from 5,000 points, and shows each hotel’s cost once you log in. The number depends on the hotel and date: the worldwide terms price free nights from the hotel’s expected average room rate for the date you want. If you are short, Pay with Points takes US$25 off a room for 5,000 points.

Do Best Western points expire?

No. Best Western Rewards points have no expiry date: Best Western’s UK site says Best Western Rewards points never expire, and its programme terms say points earned under the programme do not expire. Best Western can close an account that breaks the terms, and if it ended the programme, members would have 90 days to spend their points.

What are the Best Western Rewards tiers?

There are five, by nights a calendar year: Blue (0 to 4), Gold (5 to 6), Platinum (7 to 14), Diamond (15 to 24) and Diamond Select (25 or more). Gold earns 10% bonus points, Platinum 15%, Diamond 30% and Diamond Select 50%. Gold and above also get a room upgrade when available and a choice of a free drinks voucher or 500 bonus points (no alcohol at Scottish hotels).

Yes. Global Double Points pays double points on qualifying stays at any Best Western branded hotel or participating WorldHotels hotel worldwide from 8 September to 31 December 2026, with no limit, and all members can take part.
