IKEA Family: Rewards from IKEA Family points explained

Offers checked 6 Nov 2026 · How we verify offers

IKEA Family is IKEA’s free members’ club, open to UK residents aged 18 or over. Since 27 August 2024 members in the UK have collected points with Rewards from IKEA Family: 1 point for every £5 spent at IKEA, in store, online and in the restaurants, plus a few points for things like going to a free IKEA Family event or booking a planning appointment.

Points unlock rewards: money off a purchase, money off a large delivery, or cheap food in the Swedish Restaurant. 125 points take £10 off a spend of £11 or more, so a point is worth 8p and every £1 you spend gives 1.6p back. Points last 18 months from when you collect them; a reward code lasts 30 days.

The figures on this page are IKEA UK’s. IKEA Family prices (the blue labels), the free weekday tea or filter coffee and Just-in-case protection are member perks, not points.

How to collect IKEA Family points faster

  1. Shop in one basket

Points are worked out on the whole transaction, at 1 point for every £5. IKEA’s own example: three items at £3, £7 and £5 bought together (£15) earn 3 points, but bought one at a time they earn only 2, because the £3 item earns nothing on its own. £100 in one go earns 20 points.

  2. Scan your card or log in before you pay

Show your digital IKEA Family card at the till (or give your phone number or email address), or log in before you check out online. IKEA cannot add points afterwards, even with a receipt. Food in the restaurants and the Swedish Food Market earns points too; IKEA gift cards and second-hand Marketplace purchases do not.

  3. Go to a free IKEA Family event

Register for and attend a free IKEA Family workshop or event in an IKEA store for 20 points. You must attend: registering alone earns nothing. IKEA’s rewards page credits these points once a week; one line in its newer terms says events are not limited to once a week, while the same section says once a week for each type of interaction.

  4. Book a planning appointment

Book and attend a planning appointment, online or in store, for 25 points. Kitchen planning appointments do not count.

  5. Log in each week and save a wish list

Logging in to your IKEA Family profile earns 1 point, and creating and saving a wish list 2 points, each once a week (the week starts on Monday). Creating your IKEA Family profile earns 5 points once.

Money off a spend is worth 7.7p a point on the 65-point reward and 8p on the rest, and money off delivery 10p a point. Money-off rewards cannot be used in the Swedish Food Market or Swedish Restaurant, on IKEA services or on gift cards. Delivery rewards apply only to large deliveries (from £25 for members), not parcel or express delivery.

Rewards unlock in your IKEA Family account once you have enough points. Choosing one takes the points and sends a QR code or a 16-digit code by email. In store, scan the QR code at the till (you can use several rewards from different categories); online, choose “Use a discount code” at checkout; by phone, give the code. Online and by phone you can use one reward per order.

A reward code lasts 30 days. Points cannot pay for part of a purchase, cannot be swapped for cash, and cannot be spent in the transaction that earns them. IKEA’s pages disagree on changes: its FAQ says an unused reward can be exchanged and is re-issued if the order is cancelled, while its newer terms say a code cannot be changed or turned back into points and is lost even if the order is later cancelled.

IKEA Family FAQ

Are there any IKEA Family bonus points offers right now?

Yes, there are currently 3 live IKEA Family offers on this page, each checked on the brand's own site.

How much are IKEA Family points worth?

About 8p each on money-off rewards: 125 points take £10 off a spend of £11 or more, and 250 and 500 points take £20 and £40 off. The smallest, 65 points for £5 off, is 7.7p a point. Delivery rewards give 10p a point, but only on large deliveries. At 1 point per £5, every £1 you spend gives 1.6p back.

How many IKEA Family points do you get?

1 point for every £5 you spend at IKEA UK, worked out on the whole transaction, in store, online and in the restaurants. You also get 20 points for attending a free IKEA Family event, 25 for a planning appointment (not kitchen planning), 5 for creating your profile, 2 for saving a wish list and 1 for logging in; except for purchases and creating a profile, each counts once a week.

Do IKEA Family points expire?

Yes. Each point expires 18 months after it reaches your account, and IKEA emails a reminder when points are due to expire within three months. IKEA may also close an account unused for more than 3 years, and its points may then be cancelled. A reward code expires 30 days after you choose it.

How do I use my IKEA Family points?

Log in to your IKEA Family account on ikea.com or the IKEA app and choose a reward you have unlocked. IKEA takes the points and emails a QR code or 16-digit code: scan the QR code at the till in store, enter the code under “Use a discount code” online, or give it on the phone. Use it within 30 days.

Is IKEA Family free?

Yes. IKEA’s terms say the membership is free of charge. You must be 18 or over and live in the UK, and you can have one account. Join online or at the IKEA Family screens in store; you get a digital card at once, as IKEA no longer issues new plastic cards.

Is tea and coffee free with IKEA Family?

Yes, Monday to Friday: members get a free tea or filtered coffee in IKEA’s restaurants when they scan their IKEA Family card. IKEA Brighton, Oxford Street, Hammersmith, the Aberdeen Order and Collection Point and the Plan and Order Points are left out.

What is IKEA Family Just-in-case protection?

A free member perk: if something you bought with your IKEA Family card scanned breaks on the way home or while you assemble it, IKEA replaces it or gives you a refund card. Claim in store within 90 days, with your card and proof of purchase. It does not cover gift cards, buys in the restaurants, café, Bistro or Swedish Food Market, cut fabric, made-to-order goods, Re-shop and Re-use items, or items IKEA’s own services picked, delivered, assembled or installed.

Is there an IKEA Family birthday reward?

The IKEA UK pages we read (the IKEA Family page, its benefits and rewards pages, the terms and the FAQ) mention no birthday reward. IKEA Family runs differently in other countries, so a birthday offer you see online may not be a UK one.

Can I use my IKEA Family card in another country?

No. IKEA Family cards work only in the country that issued them, and points are collected only on purchases in the country where you live.
